FCE coursebooks

I need to choose a coursebook for a First Certificate class starting in
September. The problem is that, due to our new policy of changing books
each year and not using the same ones as colleagues teaching the same
level, I can’t use F.C. Masterclass by Haines & Stewart, Focus on F.C.
by O’Connell, or Headway Upper Int.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to a good alternative for this
level?… Preferably one which does not concentrate heavily on FCE
exam-type exercises, as for the first term I don’t want to be too
exam-focused. Thanks!

Want to find a school all over the world?

I just try it at:
        http://language-schools.base.org

It’s the bigger language schools directory I’ve never seen.
It sounds pretty good.
Choose to learn English or another language then choose your country and your
city: you will have all the schools you want…
They also give a reduction fee.
Bye.

to use Be or Being

I have problem telling sentences like the following ones that why use (be)
instead of (Being), or the other way around.  Are Be and Being
interchangeable
in the following sentences?  What differences it will make if the other word
is used? – or it will not make any sense at all.

examples:
1. He urged the Sinn (be) barred from the talks as punishment.
2. They have seized on 2 men (being) killed to try to bring this process
down.
3. The barge, (being) pushed by a tug, hit the platform 15 miles south of
   the city.

How do I know when to use (be) or (being)?

Experiences in China?

Hello everyone,

My gf and I are in the midst of exploring the possibility of teaching
english in China.  We have an interview with an organization (World
Exchanges Inc.) coming up very soon and were wondering if anyone has
had any dealings with this organization specifically (they are based
in Toronto, Ontario, I believe…).  Also, more generally, we would
like to correspond with any teachers who have taught or are presently
teaching in Asia.  We don’t check the newsgroups daily, so if anyone
would like to pass any information on to us, we’d prefer they do it
via e-mail.

Hope to hear some interesting stories!

Self teaching Spanish

I am trying to learn Spanish on my own.
I am looking for suggestions for self teaching
audio material.
Is there one that is better than others?
When I go to the book store to buy a
Spanish language instruction CD or tape,
what should I look for?

Thanks
